My Trailer

So it finally came! Was so happy immediately started putting it together. Noticed a piece was bent. didnt think nothing of it. Got it almost together realized the bent piece was going to be a problem. So i got out the pliers and the hammer. Spent the next hour or so bending it back into shape. Finally got the other piece to fit on it barely. So out comes the trusty hammer. Couple whacks it on. And when i was taking the tires off this morning realized it fits perfect because i can take the piece on and off! Job well done.

So after trailer was together spent the rest of the night trying to figure out how i was going to load it and what i was taking. Id already scaled down the food once and i wasnt doing it again. So i scaled down on my clothes. And i figured out a way to get canned goods in there that wouldnt fit anywhere else. All the empty spaces around gear are now full of canned goods. LOL So its a little bulky and ill have to use bungy cords but it looks like ill be able to take everything planned plus some. Should be a site coming down the road. LOL Glad i bought the flag. At least ill be seen. Ill have my tent, chair, and sleeping bag bungeed to sides but because they dont weigh anything it will work out ok.

Dreading today. Got to move rest of stuff to storage and then go by bike shop and get spare inner tubes and a basket for the handlebars of my bike. More money being spent i didnt want to spend. Didnt even want to get up this morning wanted to pull covers back up over head and just go back to sleep. But being the way i am once im awake im awake. When i realized i wasnt going back to sleep i got up and began this long day. As im sitting here drinking my coffee i keep thinking on how the other cyclists might portray me but u know what that doesnt really matter all that matters is that ill be taking my trip my way. This is my big chance to have an adventure and im going to try and enjoy it to the fullest.

Im glad my son and i were always wanderers when he was little because now that im leaving Missouri id hate to one day say theres something here ive never seen. Weve probably been places many dont even know exists. Im one of those people who like to see what there is to see and not miss something because your afraid to get into trouble or your not suppose to be there. Some rules are just meant to be broke. Exspecially when it things that are so easily accessible.
I know one day ill probably come back here because after all this is my hometown. I imagine though when i return things will have changed so much ill not even recognize it. Im being a little melonchaly this morning but as it gets closer to time to go i realize how much ill miss my hometown because after all it is my home. This is where my fathers from and his father and his father before him. There have been many generations of us born and raised here. Theres not many left now but the memories will always be with me. I had the good fortune of knowing most of the generations before they passed and i was a quiet listening kid so i remember the storys. On my journey i will be carrying their memories with me. And from time to time ill tell those stories to all whod like to listen.

Forward we go into a new life with a new journey. And were counting down to four days to go.............

  1. You have so many great lines in this post, Jules! I think I have a gypsy heart as well, I don't like to be tied down, or the idea of a missed opportunity. And what a grand adventure you have before you! Glad you got your trailer fixed, cant wait to see some pictures, lol (do I sound like a broken record yet?)
